HC Deb 12 June 1917 vol 94 cc776-7
68. Mr. O'DOWD

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland why the Local Government Board have sanctioned increases of £100 and £50, respectively, to the secretary of the Sligo County Council and the county surveyor of that county, in view of the fact that the matter was not on the agenda of the meeting at which these increases were voted?

Mr. DUKE

The Local Government Board were satisfied that the officers mentioned in the question should on the merits of their cases be granted the in creases proposed by the county council. The agenda of the meeting, as furnished with the county council's minutes, contained an entry as follows: "To consider applications from the secretary of the county council and county surveyor for an increase of salary."
