HC Deb 12 June 1917 vol 94 c754
13. Colonel YATE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether the proposals made by the India Office regarding the better rates of pay to be granted to sick and wounded officers of the Indian Army sent home from field service have now been considered by the War Office; and, if not, what is the difficulty that delays the matter?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

It is hoped that a settlement of this question may be reached at a Conference between the Indian Office and the War Office to be held shortly.

Colonel YATE

May I ask what does "shortly" mean?

Mr. FORSTER

As soon as possible!
