HC Deb 06 June 1917 vol 94 c152
22. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland how many writs of ejectment and decrees for possession and for arrears of rent, respectively, are in the hands of the sheriff of county Leitrim awaiting execution; how many of them relate to the district of Ballinaghera; whether any inhabitant of that district is free from these minatory documents; whether the delay in executing them is with the purpose of using the police and military in harvest time to seize with the land the crops which the people have spent their time and labour sowing; whether it is intended to allow visitors from Great Britain and America to witness those operations; and whether, in the interests of peace and increased food production, he will immediately apply the remedy provided by Parliament for such rural problems?

Sir G. CAVE

The High Sheriff of county Leitrim has no writs of ejectment and no decrees for possession or for arrears of rent in his hands awaiting execution at the present time.
