§ 33. Mr. OUTHWAITEasked what steps have been taken to recruit men between the ages of forty-one and fifty in accordance with the announced decision of the War Office; and what response, if any, there has been to the appeal?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONDirect enlistment of men between the ages mentioned has been proceeding since the announcement was made. A fair number of really useful men are being obtained as a result of the appeal for men of these ages. I am glad to have this opportunity of again referring to the matter, so that the fact that these over-age enlistments are proceeding may not be lost sight of.
§ Mr. OUTHWAITEDoes a "fair number" mean that there has been no great rush of these men to join?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONYou cannot assume any such thing.
