§ 64. Mr. BOWERMANasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in order to prevent displacement of labour in the 1291 trade through the non-withdrawal of tobacco from bond until the reduced duty becomes operative, he will allow a rebate on tobacco taken out of bond between now and the 16th of July?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWAs at present advised, I do not anticipate that any serious interruption of manufacture is likely to occur, but the Tobacco Control Board, which is in daily consultation with representatives of all branches of the trade, will consider the question whether any rebate on tobacco taken out of bond before July 16th is required.
