HC Deb 04 July 1917 vol 95 cc1078-9
9. Commander BELLAIRS

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty, in view of the fact that the court-martial for the loss of the mercantile cruiser "Oceanic" was the only one mentioned in the Press as having taken place for the loss of a warship during the War under the administration of the right hon. Member for Dundee, if he will say whether any other court-martial took place during that period for the loss of any "Dreadnought," battleship, cruiser, or destroyer which we lost in that period?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Dr. Macnamara)

Yes, Sir! There was one other case.

Commander BELLAIRS

What class of ship was the other ship?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I think that it was a destroyer.
