HC Deb 04 July 1917 vol 95 c1112
95. Mr. WARDLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade what monetary allowances are now made by the railway companies to unmarried men in the Army who have no dependants, to unmarried men with dependants, and to married men; what reduction, if any, is made in the allowances when a man receives promotion in the Army or is paid at rates higher than those received by a private in an infantry regiment; whether any reduction is made in a case where the wife is earning money; whether the allowance is based upon the man's rate of pay at the time of enlisting; and whether it includes any portion of the War bonus?

Mr. ROBERTS

To obtain the information desired will involve inquiries of the railway companies. These are being made, and I will write my hon. Friend in due course.
