HC Deb 21 February 1917 vol 90 cc1330-1
67. Mr. PERCY HARRIS (Paddington, S.)

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he proposes to take any steps to secure the safety of the Victoria and Albert Museum, for which he is responsible, against the admittedly additional risk of fire caused by the placing of inflammable material in the building for the purposes of a fair without his consent?

Sir ALFRED MOND

So far as it falls within my province, effect has been given to all the recommendations of the London Fire Brigade for securing the safety of the building. In the event of any future proposal to put the Victoria and Albert Museum building to such use, I should, if First Commissioner at the time, certainly refuse consent.
