HC Deb 21 February 1917 vol 90 c1317
26. Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether the War Office is still calling up by compulsion attested men who have been rejected since August, 1915, and to whom a notice calling them up for re-examination has not been sent before 1st September, 1916; and, if so, why it is taking no steps to call up compulsorily Mr. Gager, to whom this description applies, but who was declared by the South-Western magistrate to be excepted, the War Office having stated that it did not recognise the validity of this decision?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I must refer my hon. Friend to the answers which I gave to him on this subject on the 20th February.
