HC Deb 20 February 1917 vol 90 c1156
33. Sir J. D. REES

asked why the Order prohibiting the importation of cotton hosiery had been rescinded; and why these goods, and also cotton lace and embroidery, are allowed to come in freely, despite the shortage of tonnage for food and other essential imports?

Mr. ROBERTS

I would refer the hon. Gentleman to the answer which was given to the hon. and gallant Member for Melton on the 15th February, of which I am sending him a copy.

Sir J. D. REES

Did that answer cover the question of lace and embroidery? I think not.

Mr. ROBERTS

That is part of the question. The whole question of imports is under revision.
