HC Deb 20 February 1917 vol 90 c1154
28. Mr. WILLIAM YOUNG

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the negotiations for the purchase of enemy share holdings in the Ore Trading Company, to conduct which Mr. Frank Baer, a German-born subject and a member of the firm of Henry R. Merton and Company, Limited, was allowed to proceed to New York, have resulted in the shares of the Ore Trading Company being transferred; if so, whether he will state the names of those who have acquired the enemy interest and whether any of the new holders are German-born subjects; and, in the case of the shares having been acquired by firms or corporations, the number of directors, if any, of those companies or corporations who may be German-born subjects?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. G. Roberts)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative, and therefore the other points do not arise.
