HC Deb 20 February 1917 vol 90 c1160
49. Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of the establishment of local war museums, where records could be kept of all men from the particular locality serving in His Majesty's forces during the War, where all interesting matter, appearing in the Press and elsewhere, dealing with the actions of the local regiments or ships could be systematically accumulated together with objects of interest connected with the War having special connection with that locality; and is he aware that the scheme proposed has been adopted in various districts and sections of existing museums-have been allocated for the purposes specified?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I am not aware how-far my hon. Friend's suggestion has already been adopted, but it is, I think, clearly one which would command public sympathy. The use of existing museums for the purpose would be a matter for negotiation with the controlling authorities.
