HC Deb 20 February 1917 vol 90 c1150
12. Mr. OUTHWAITE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War how many British graves are being cared for in France; and can he give an estimate of the number of British dead in France who have not received burial?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I regret that it is not possible to give the number of graves for military reasons, but I can assure the hon. Member that every grave is being most carefully attended to by the Special Commission appointed for the purpose.

Mr. OUTHWAITE

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that at a meeting of a society recently in London an authoritative statement was made that there were 150,000 British graves being cared for in France, and, following on that, I asked what number were not buried?
