HC Deb 12 February 1917 vol 90 cc246-7
15. Mr. GEORGE LAMBERT

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he will issue an Order enabling occupiers of land to destroy game which is destroying crops intended for human consumption?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD OF AGRICULTURE (Sir R. Winfrey)

The Board are fully alive to the desirability of reducing the stock of game to a minimum, and are pressing the matter on the attention of the Food Controller.

Mr. LAMBERT

What is the Food Controller going to do—I mean has the Food Controller taken any action: has any action been taken at all to destroy the inordinate amount of game which is now destroying food intended for human consumption?

Sir R. WINFREY

I am afraid no action can be taken at present; we are pressing the matter.

Mr. LAMBERT

But is any action going to be taken?

Mr. PRINGLE

In whose power is the issue of an Order referring to this matter?

Sir R. WINFREY

The power of the Food Controller.
