HC Deb 12 February 1917 vol 90 cc274-5
67. Major HUNT

asked the Home Secretary whether he will cause inquiry to be made as to activities in connection with the propaganda of the Union of Democratic Control executive of Fraulein Pauline Spittler, a German lady residing at Golder's Green; whether the police have already recommended that Miss Spittler should be deported to the country of her origin at the earliest available opportunity; and what action, if any, has been or will be taken upon the police report submitted to the Home Office?

Sir G. CAVE

This lady, who appears to have resided in this country for thirty-two years, was exempted from repatriation in June, 1915, on the recommendation of the advisory committee. No such report as is suggested in the question has been received, but if any action appears to be desirable in the public interest it will be taken.
