HC Deb 26 April 1917 vol 92 cc2570-1
33. Mr. BUTCHER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will at an early date introduce legislation for amending the Trading With the Enemy Act, 1916, and removing the defects in that Act which experience has proved to exist, and for more effectively eliminating enemy influence from our trades and businesses?

Mr. ROBERTS

The matter is under consideration, and I hope that a definite decision will be arrived at shortly.

Mr. BUTCHER

Has the President of the Board of Trade received a report signed by certain Members of this House pointing out the deficiencies of the first Act, and suggesting how they could be remedied?

Mr. ROBERTS

Both the President and myself have received copies of that report and have noted it.

Sir C. HENRY

Will the Board of Trade consider the advisability of dealing with those firms who have black lists in the Colonies?

Mr. ROBERTS

If representations are made we will consider them.
