HC Deb 26 April 1917 vol 92 cc2562-3
72. Sir J. LONSDALE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food if he will state what restrictions are imposed upon the milling of flour and the baking of bread in Ireland; and if it is intended to take control of the flour mills in Ireland, as has been done in Great Britain?

Captain BATHURST

Unless otherwise specified, the Orders issued from the Ministry of Food apply to Ireland as equally with other parts of the United Kingdom. The answer to the second part of the question is accordingly in the affirmative.

Mr. GIN NELL

Will the hon. Gentleman say whether the Ministry of Food have consulted the Irish Millers' Association upon this subject?

Captain BATHURST

I cannot at present say that, but in this matter there is no reason to discriminate between different parts of the United Kingdom. The Food Controller does not propose to do so.

Mr. GINNELL

Has he not consulted the millers in this country, and will he consult the Irish Millers' Association upon this subject?

Captain BATHURST

No, Sir; there is no reason to give special attention to the millers in any part of the United Kingdom.
