67. Mr. CHANCELLORasked the Minister of Munitions whether he is aware that trained shell examiners who have been engaged for months at Ponders End, and receiving a subsistence allowance of 4s. per day, are being sent to Woolwich or discharged, their places being filled by inexperienced local men; whether some have been offered re-engagement at the same factory if they consent to forego their subsistence allowance, which is a virtual reduction of wage by 24s. per week; and whether this policy of substitution is intended to be continued whilst the work still requires to be done in order to stop the allowance?
§ Mr. KELLAWAYI would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave on 22nd March to my right hon. Friend the Member for Woolwich.
