HC Deb 25 April 1917 vol 92 c2395
73. Mr. PARTINGTON

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the Croydon county magistrates have protested to the Chief Commissioner of Police against having to make special arrangements to regulate the speed of motors attending the race meetings recently held at Gatwick and Lingfield; and whether he proposes to prohibit the use of motors at race meetings?

Mr. BRACE

I understand from the Commissioner of Police that he has received a communication on the subject from the Croydon county justices, which he has forwarded to the Petrol Committee.

Mr. PARTINGTON

Is it not possible for the right hon. Gentleman to see that arrangements are made which would enable people to get to their work in comfort?

Mr. BRACE

I am not in a position to deal with the matter to which my hon. Friend refers.
