11. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office on whose recommendation Mr. P. J. Killeen, county councillor, Claremorris, county Mayo, has been appointed a purchaser of potatoes for the military and military hospitals in Ireland; and what was his qualification for the appointment?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

Mr. Killeen is a potato merchant from whom fifty tons have been purchased in the ordinary way.

Mr. GINNELL

Is he not a purchaser for the Government?

Mr. FORSTER

He holds no official position. He is a merchant, and we are buying potatoes from him.
