HC Deb 24 April 1917 vol 92 c2228
59. Mr. WILES

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been called to the profits made by British farmers during the War; and whether, having regard to the fact that it is proposed that the State shall guarantee them prices for several years to come, he will consider the fairness of making them pay not only Income Tax on the same scale as other businesses. But also include them in the coming Budget in an excess profits scheme?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I will give due consideration to this, as to other suggestions which reach me for raising the revenue required for the public service in the current financial year.
