HC Deb 19 April 1917 vol 92 c1829
101. Mr. DUNCAN MILLAR

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been directed to the present shortage of railway wagons in Scotland for the transport of coal; and whether the Coal Controller proposes to take any steps in the matter?

Mr. ROBERTS

I am aware that difficulties have been experienced from time to time in connection with the supply of wagons in certain districts, but recent returns from coalowners in Scotland do not appear to show any general or serious loss of time at the pits due to that cause. The whole question of wagon supply to the collieries is receiving the close attention of the Controller of Coal Mines.
