HC Deb 19 April 1917 vol 92 cc1823-4
60. Sir EDWARD GOULDING

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to the recent announcement by the Minister of Labour that when the troops are disbanded they are to get a month's holiday with Army pay and separation allowances for the wives and children; and whether, in view of this decision, it is intended to grant similar recognition to all officers who have served at the front?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

These questions are still only under consideration, but the hon. Member may rest assured that both officers and men will receive appropriate though not necessarily the same form of recognition.

Sir E. GOULDING

Will the hon. Gentleman take into consideration the fact that many of the officers in the new Territorial Army are in a financial position not different from that of the troops?

Mr. FORSTER

That certainly will be taken into account.

Mr. BILLING

Are we to understand—

Mr. DEPUTY-SPEAKER

The hon. Member is not entitled to so large a share of the time of the House.
