§ 54. Mr. DEVLINasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the charge made in this House that Major Price visited John MacNeill in prison and offered him certain terms if he would consent to implicate two hon. Members of this House in the recent rebellion, and of the admission made by the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland that Major Price had visited Mr. MacNeill in prison for the purpose of obtaining information, he will appoint a Select Committee of this House to investigate the conduct of Major Price, and to inquire by whose advice or authority Major Price was authorised to offer terms to a prisoner awaiting trial?
