HC Deb 18 October 1916 vol 86 cc562-3
8. Mr. KING

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has received any communications from the Rhodes Trustees concerning the Rhodes Estates Bill now before Parliament; and whether the Rhodes Trustees have given any undertaking to establish Rhodes scholarships for Colonials within a definite time if the Bill passes?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Bonar Law)

I learn from the Rhodes Trustees that they will consider various applications which have been received from Colonial Governments for the allotment of further scholarships if the Bill now before Parliament is passed into law, but that nothing can be done until that happens.
