HC Deb 18 October 1916 vol 86 c562
Sir H. DUNCAN

(by Private Notice) asked the Prime Minister whether the figure he gave in his recent speech as the number of prisoners captured by the French on the Somme is up to date?

The PRIME MINISTER

The figure which I gave, namely, 34,050, was taken from the French official communiqué of 22nd September. I am glad to learn that the total number of prisoners captured by the French on the Somme from 1st July till 12th October—which is the latest number I have been able to obtain—is 40,125.
