HC Deb 18 October 1916 vol 86 c553
63. Sir J. LONSDALE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what means are adopted in Ireland to ensure that Entertainments Duty is collected in all cases where there is liability; and if any general or particular instructions have been given to exempt the meetings of the Gaelic Athletic Association from payment of this duty?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The answer to the first part of the question is that the officers of Customs and Excise in Ireland, as in Great Britain, have instructions to see that the Entertainments Tax is not evaded. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
