HC Deb 18 October 1916 vol 86 cc557-8
76. Mr. CORY

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will indicate to what extent Wales is affected by the arrangement for transferring Labour Exchange headquarters from the provincial divisions to London with regard to an important part of unemployment insurance administration; whether, before this decision was reached, leading employers of labour in Cardiff and South Wales generally were consulted, together with trade union leaders and the local Members of Parliament; and, if not, why this step was not taken?

Mr. PRETYMAN

It is not proposed to transfer Employment Exchanges headquarters from divisional centres to London. I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave yesterday to a similar question by my hon. Friend the Member for Edinburgh (East).
