asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the fact that the War may be prolonged for years, he will take steps to secure that the pay of the soldier shall be raised to the level of the rate of wage ruling in the standard industries of the country?

The PRIME MINISTER

There is no intention of making any general alteration in the rates of pay of the Army.
