§ 96. Major HUNTasked the President of the Board of Trade what has been settled as to the taking over of ships now being built for allied or neutral countries by starred labour in this country; and whether he is aware that the matter is urgent, because unless these ships are completed to Lloyd's standard they will not be suitable for the trade of this country?
Mr. RUNCIMANThe vessels that are now being built for neutral owners will either be sold to British owners or be chartered to the Government for the War, and some months afterwards, at a rate about half the market rate. There need be no anxiety about the vessels not being suitable for the trade of this country.
§ Major HUNTBut does not the difficulty I have suggested arise?
