HC Deb 12 October 1916 vol 86 cc201-2
57. Major HUNT

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the fact that the Germans do not send Zeppelins to France to drop bombs on undefended cities because the French retaliate, he will take the same action in order to prevent our women and children from being murdered in our undefended cities?

The PRIME MINISTER

In view of the fact that German aeroplanes freely drop bombs on undefended French towns, it seems not improbable that the reason that Zeppelins are not used for this purpose is the danger of crossing the front and not the fear of retaliation. The second part of the question, therefore, does not arise.
