HC Deb 12 October 1916 vol 86 c194
86. Mr. BROOKES

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his Department has considered action in the direction of the non-registration in this country of enemy trade marks; and in that case, what policy he proposes to adopt?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

During the continuance of the War no registration of a trade mark is being or will be granted to any enemy subject. Applications made by enemies are being dealt with as usual down to and including acceptance, but all proceedings subsequent to acceptance are suspended. The position after the War of these marks is among the subjects to be considered by a conference of technical delegates of the Allies during the present autumn.
