HC Deb 12 October 1916 vol 86 cc178-9
42. Mr. MACMASTER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress has been made in carrying out the scheme to provide for disabled sailors and soldiers, and specially what has been done in conjunction with our Dominions overseas to provide for settling those who may wish to emigrate upon the land which these Dominions freely offer for settlement?

The PRESIDENT of the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Long)

My right hon. Friend desires me to answer this question on his behalf. He informs me that he is in communication with the Dominions on the subject, but is not yet in a position to make any statement in regard to it.

Mr. MACMASTER

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the same answer was given twelve months ago?

Mr. LONG

I am giving the answer on behalf of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, who is unable to be here.
