76. Colonel GRIFFITHSasked the Minister of Munitions what steps are being taken by his Department for the distribution of discharged men to replace single men working in controlled establishments, and whether a number of discharged men are available for the purpose; and if he can state what is the cause of the delay in arranging further exchange?
§ The MINISTER of MUNITIONS (Mr. Montagu)Steps are being taken. I am in communication with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for War on this subject, and if my hon. Friend will repeat his question next week I think I shall be able to give him an account of the new policy, which I hope by then will have been agreed.
§ Mr. PRINGLEIs it not the case that the new munition works now coming into operation will require all these men and more?
§ Mr. MONTAGUWith the increasing demand for munitions by the Allied Armies they will require more and more men.
