HC Deb 12 October 1916 vol 86 cc184-5
76. Colonel GRIFFITHS

asked the Minister of Munitions what steps are being taken by his Department for the distribution of discharged men to replace single men working in controlled establishments, and whether a number of discharged men are available for the purpose; and if he can state what is the cause of the delay in arranging further exchange?

The MINISTER of MUNITIONS (Mr. Montagu)

Steps are being taken. I am in communication with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for War on this subject, and if my hon. Friend will repeat his question next week I think I shall be able to give him an account of the new policy, which I hope by then will have been agreed.

Mr. PRINGLE

Is it not the case that the new munition works now coming into operation will require all these men and more?

Mr. MONTAGU

With the increasing demand for munitions by the Allied Armies they will require more and more men.
