(by Private Notice) asked whether any statement could be made about the proposed conference on Franchise Reform?

The terms of reference are as follows:—

To examine, and, if possible, submit Agreed resolutions on the following matters:

  1. (a) Reform of the Franchise.
  2. (b) Basis for Redistribution of Seats.
  3. (c) Reform of the system of the registration of electors.
  4. (d) Method of elections and the manner in which the costs of elections should be borne.
Mr. Speaker has been kind enough to consent to preside over the conference, which will hold its first meeting on Thursday next at eleven a.m., at the office of the Local Government Board. I will circulate the names of the members of the conference with the OFFICIAL REPORT.—[See Written Answers.]
