§ 18. Mr. BOLANDasked the Chief Secretary whether any official notice, apart from laying their new Rules upon the Table of the House, was given by the Intermediate Board to the Department of Agriculture with respect to the new rule as regards experimental science; and, if so, on what date; and whether he is aware that the Department of Agriculture has stated that it received no such official notice?
§ Mr. DUKEThe Report of the Committee of the Intermediate Education Board, recommending the introduction of a written examination in science, was duly sent to the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, in his capacity of a member of the Board, with the Agenda of the Board for 9th December, 1915. He was present at the meeting of the Board at which the rule introducing a written examination in science was made, and at a Subsequent meeting, when all changes made in the rules were finally revised, and their exact wording read out to the Board. The Board are of opininon that their action in this matter was an effective communication to the Department of Agriculture.
