HC Deb 21 November 1916 vol 87 c1183
15. Mr. LUNDON

asked the Secretary of State for War, if he is aware that some weeks ago the Earl of Dunraven applied for exemption from military service on behalf of his footman; was his request complied with; and, if so, on what grounds?

Mr. FORSTER

The footman had been passed unfit for general service and for sedentary work at home only. He was granted exemption to the 31st December conditionally upon his remaining the personal attendant of Lady Dunraven. Lady Dunraven unfortunately died within a fortnight of the grant of this certificate, and the certificate has, therefore, lapsed.
