HC Deb 16 November 1916 vol 87 cc957-8
72. Mr. HOGGE

asked the Prime Minister when Part II. of the Regulations of the Statutory Committee are to be issued in their revised form?

Mr. BONAR LAW

This question should "be addressed to my right hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary to the Local Government Board.

Mr. HOGGE

May I ask the Parliamentary Secretary for an answer now?

75. Mr. THOMAS

asked the Prime Minister whether he is now in a position to state what increases are to be made in the allowances to dependants of soldiers and sailors by way of compensation for the reduction of nearly 33 per cent. in the value of their present allowances caused by the increase in the cost of living?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I understand that the Statutory Committee have submitted to the Treasury certain amendments of their Regulations to meet the cases of hardship contemplated in the question.

Mr. HOGGE

Do we undertsand that this is the only way in which the Government is going to deal with the question of increased separation allowances?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I hope my hon. Friend will not understand that. It is being considered.
