HC Deb 15 November 1916 vol 87 c806
4. Colonel YATE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the medal granted to the officers and men of the Royal Navy and Royal Indian Marine for services in the gun-running operations in the Persian Gulf and adjacent countries during the years 1909 to 1914 has been granted to the troops employed at various places in the same operations; and, if not, will he take measures for the grant of this medal to the troops concerned?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The medal granted is a naval one. The question of the grant of a medal to the troops employed in operations for the suppression of gun-running was fully considered in 1913 and 1914, and I see no ground for reopening it.
