HC Deb 15 November 1916 vol 87 c765
70. Colonel CRAIG

asked the Prime Minister whether he is now in a position to make a statement with regard to the Government's intention to extend the Military Service Acts to Ireland?

Mr. BONAR LAW

No, Sir, I am afraid I can add nothing to the Prime Minister's answer to this question of the 8th November.

Colonel CRAIG

Does not the Prime Minister recognise the fact that we are half through the Session and that this matter should be dealt with?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I think he probably does. Perhaps my hon. and gallant Friend would put a question to the Prime Minister himself.

Colonel CRAIG

I will put it down for next Wednesday.

Sir E. CARSON

Is it not a fact that the Government have made up their minds to do nothing?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I can give no other answer, obviously, than that which has already been given by the Prime Minister.

Mr. SNOWDEN

Is it not a fact that when hon. Gentlemen opposite had the opportunity of forcing this question to a Division when the Bill was under discussion they ran away?
