§ Mr. BONAR LAWI have been asked to give the reply of my right hon. Friend. I have already had occasion to point out in reply to a similar question that considerable steps have already been taken in this direction, since the outbreak of war, by means of heavy increases in direct taxation. For the present, I am unable to anticipate what further financial measures it may be necessary to adopt during the War.
