Mr. O'GRADYasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that miners (workmen) travelling to their work from Leeds to Micklefield, a distance of nine miles each way, at a cost of 2s. a week, or a total of £5 4s. a year, are charged Income Tax upon that sum; and, if so, will instructions be given to surveyors of taxes in the district that moneys thus expended are not to be subjected to Income Tax?
