29. Mr. DENNISSasked the Postmaster-General whether, in the mutual interest of the public and the Post Office, he will consider the advisability of permitting subscribers' numbers and exchange in the telephone directories to be used as their registered telegraphic-addresses?
Mr. PIKE PEASESubscribers are not only permitted but invited to use their telephonic addresses for their telegrams. Owing, however, to the risk of error inseparable from the telegraphic transmission of figures, it is essential that the name form part of the address. Public notices calling attention to the facility, which is too little known, are about to be issued.
