§ Dr. MACNAMARAA report has been received from the official at the Victoria Docks before whom the crew of the vessel was engaged. When asked to sign on at the "port rate" the victualling department refused. They were subsequntly informed that if they did not feel inclined to sign on they could leave the ship and other men would be engaged in their places. They eventually accepted the "port rate." No threat of military service was used by the Victoria Docks official or by any officer of the ship.
