HC Deb 31 May 1916 vol 82 cc2715-6
103. Mr. CATHCART WASON

asked the President of the Board of Trade what restrictions have been placed upon race meetings, and whether such restrictions have been relaxed in any way during the last six months; and whether, in view of the feeling caused among all classes at the display of such waste and the discredit placed on the shoulders of the Government and the House of Commons by its continuance, he will give the matter his careful consideration?

Mr. PRETYMAN

I am afraid I cannot add to the replies given to previous questions on this subject on the 9th, 11th, and 23rd May, but I can assure the hon. Gentleman that the matter will continue to receive the most careful consideration.

Mr. HOGGE

Is my hon. Friend aware that there are two unlicensed race meetings being promoted for Whitsuntide recess at Birmingham?

Mr. PRETYMAN

I was not aware of that.
