§ The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Montagu)Final figures for the year 1915–16 are not yet available. The total nominal amount of dead-weight debt on 31st March, 1916, was approximately £2,140,800,000. As regards the amount of Consol Debt converted, I beg to refer to the answer given to my hon. Friend the Member for Wigan on the 15th instant. For further particulars as to the debt at 31st March I must ask my hon. Friend to await the publication of the usual accounts. The amount of Treasury Bills outstanding on the 20th instant was £660,698,000.
