HC Deb 22 May 1916 vol 82 c1803
45. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Prime Minister, having regard to the fact that there could be no difficulty in identifying persons killed in Dublin, will he explain why the duty of identifying them was omitted; will he give the names of those shot on the morning of the 6th instant and so buried; and will he say what action is to be taken against the officers and soldiers responsible?

Mr. TENNANT

I am informed that identification was carried out wherever possible. So far as is known, no persons were shot in Dublin on 6th May, and buried unidentified.

Mr. GINNELL

Can the right hon. Gentleman account for the fact that the London Press reported large numbers of persons shot on this particular day, and large numbers of persons buried in Glasnevin unidentified, aud that that report has never been officially corrected?

Mr. TENNANT

I really cannot make myself responsible for all the reports that appear in the papers.
