HC Deb 17 May 1916 vol 82 c1524
90. Mr. CURRIE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the total sum paid by British life assurance companies in the name of Income Tax; and what was the total abatement claimed by and allowed to taxpayers in respect of life premiums in each of the three years 1912–13, 1913–14, and 1914–15?

The information asked for in the first part of the hon. Member's question is not available. As regards the second part, the amount of the life insurance premiums relieved from payment of Income Tax for the years in question was as follows:—

1913–14 13,304,633
1914–15 (partly estimated) 13,850,000
