Mr. MALCOLMasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether Mr. Justice Younger's Committee on the British Red Cross Society have asked the International Red Cross Society at Geneva to pay visits of inspection to British prisoner camps in Bulgaria and Turkey, 627 similar to those which they have paid to the German prisoners in Morocco and in this country; and, if so, what reply has been received from Geneva?
§ Lord R. CECILIt is no part of the duty of the Committee over which Mr. Justice Younger presides to suggest visits by the International Committee of the Red Cross. I am not aware whether the British Red Cross Society, which is, as my hon. Friend knows, independent of the Government, have taken any action such as he suggests. The society will, however, notice the proposal which he has now made.
