§ 7. Mr. SNOWDENasked the President of the Local Government Board if an old age pensioner who accepts temporary war employment will forfeit his old age pension if his earnings amount to more than the income allowed under the law; and, if so, will he consider an amendment of this part of the Old Age Pensions Act or in some other way overcome this difficulty in the way of the employment of old age pensioners during the War?
§ The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Montagu)In accordance with the undertaking given by the Secretary to the treasury on the 18th May, 1915, action is not at present being taken for the reduction or revocation of existing old age pensions in consequence to temporary increases of means due to the pensioner's re-employment on account of the shortage of labour arising out of and during the War.
